DVIR · fleets of 5–50 · no ELD · no telematics · no per-vehicle fee

Odometer. Tires. Lights. Signed.

Twenty-three lines, one screen, one signature — written to the phone's own storage before anything touches the network. Dead zone, closed tunnel, flat battery, crashed tab: the morning's inspection stays on the device and files itself when a signal comes back.

The app it replaces loses the paperwork

Fleetio Go — the mobile client of the platform PreShift replaces for small fleets — is a 20,000-rating app with a 4.6 average, and a recent review wall that says one thing over and over: the inspection disappears. Verbatim, dated, public:

“Trying to do a pretrip this morning the app keeps restarting.”App Store review, 2026-01-14
“it constantly refreshes in the middle of an inspection.”App Store review, 2026-01-20
“Can never submit.”App Store review, 2026-03-09
“Freezes and doesn't save data entered.”App Store review, 2026-04-24

That is the whole argument. PreShift is not a fleet platform. It is one job — capture a pre-trip inspection without losing it — done so that losing it is not possible. A driver's answer is on the device before a single byte is sent.

Why the record cannot go missing

Saved on the phone first

Pressing Finish inspection saves the answers, every photo and the signature on the phone — all at once. Only then does the app try the network.

The queue drains itself

Every record carries an id, so a retry after a lost answer returns the original record on the server instead of a duplicate. Photos upload by content hash — a resumed upload is the same upload.

A refusal is not a loss

When the fleet server refuses a record — a mis-keyed odometer, a photo missing — the device keeps the record, the photos and the reason. The driver fixes the field and resends the same record.

The clipboard, and what the office gets

PreShift fleet dashboard with inspections due, open defects by severity and vehicles out of service
The office board: what was inspected today, what is still open, which unit is down.
Driver app pre-trip checklist with pass, fail and N/A answers, photo attach, and the device status line
The driver's screen: 23 codes, a photo where a code demands one, a signature at the end.
Driver queue showing a record queued on the device with send attempts, and a refused record with the reason
The queue a driver can see: queued, retried, filed — and why a refused one was refused.
Open defects by vehicle with severity and age, and a close-out form
Defect follow-up: severity, age in days, close-out note and photo on file.

Price

$39.00/month
  • Flat, per fleet — not per vehicle. A 30-vehicle fleet pays the same as a 5-vehicle one.
  • Unlimited drivers and unlimited inspections
  • Defect follow-up with close-out notes and photos
  • Per-inspection PDF for the file, and a fleet defect summary
  • CSV export of every inspection and defect — your data leaves with you
  • Cancel any time, no contract

Start with card — $39.00/mo

Checkout is handled by Stripe: $39.00/mo, billed monthly in advance, cancel any time. After checkout a person emails you to set up the fleet and hand over a login.

What it deliberately is not

  • No ELD, no telematics, no GPS ping — nothing to install in a van
  • No "book a call" funnel; the demo is open and unauthenticated
  • No per-vehicle pricing game at renewal

Who it is for

Service vans, box trucks, trailers and non-CDL fleets of 5–50 where the pre-trip inspection is a legal habit, not a telematics byproduct.

Questions drivers and owners ask

One login per driver, or one per vehicle?

Per driver. One login, many vehicles — the unit is picked at the top of the check.

What if the phone dies mid-inspection?

Answers stay in the form as they are tapped, and the record is on the device the moment it is finished. A dead battery costs you the taps that were on screen.

Does the office see a defect before the driver is back?

Yes. Any signal is enough, and a critical defect holds the unit out of service in the app until the close-out note is on file.

Do we have to use your checklist?

No. You start from a built-in DVIR list of 23 codes with severities; every fleet can edit codes, categories and photo requirements.
